What excellent results in the Northern NSW Tennis Tournament held over the weekend.

Northern NSW Champion of Champions

Congratulations to The Harbour Tennis Academy Team who traveled to Inverell over the weekend to play in the Northern NSW Champion of Champions with some fantastic results - Siena De Salis Winner 16 Girls Singles, Lily Pade Runner-up 10 Girls Singles, Andrew Lemin 6th 16 Boys Singles & Christie Haismann 6th in the 16 Girls Singles.

All these players will now travel to Sydney in October to play in the state finals. All the players had to fall within the top 8 of their age group to qualify for the State Final.

Also a big well done to Latiecha Wilkinson who played well on the weekend having some great results to make it this far.

We are very proud of all of you and your achievements and you should all be very proud for making it to that level.

 

Risque Hair & The Harbour Tennis Academy Junior Tennis Scholarship 2012

And the Winner Is............
Ehlayna Jacob is the winner of the inaugural ‘Risque Hair and The Harbour Tennis Academy’ junior tennis scholarship.  After recent interviews with the numerous nominees Neil Coogan ( Risque Hair ) and Allan Pade ( The Harbour Tennis Academy ) selected Ehlayna to be the 2012 scholarship holder.  Ehlayna’s determination to improve her tennis through coaching sessions as well as competing in numerous tennis tournaments swayed Neil and Allan’s minds ...to selecting her.
The scholarship was open to all juniors aged between 11 years and 18 years with the funding going towards either educational or tennis related expenses.  The Scholarship is the first one ever for junior tennis players on the Coffs Coast. With the resounding success of the 2012 Scholarship,  both Risque Hair and The Harbour Tennis Academy will include a younger age bracket for the 2013 Scholarship.  Neil Coogan from Risque Hair jumped at the opportunity with The Harbour Tennis Academy as he wanted to help the development of the budding tennis players of the future.  Neil has also a tennis background playing and training as a junior at the George Alder Tennis Centre in Ipswich where he rose to the top 10 in Queensland for the 16 years age group. This Scholarship does more than provide financial support – it provides a sort after opportunity for a young tennis player in the local community.  Local wheelchair tennis player Jye Raymond was also a lucky recipient when Risque Hair donated $250 towards his customised tennis wheelchair which presently in a workshop in Taree awaiting the necessary repairs.

Our Hot Shot competition is a weekly Round Robin Competion and is a great opportunity for young players to have fun and test their new skills. This program provides children with their first competition experience in a positive, friendly club environment.

Through the use of modified court sizes and low-compression balls, kids learn to serve, rally and score in a game that is appropriate to their development needs. Open to all children not yet ready for full court tennis this competition is designed to help your child progress into full court tennis.

AIS Want's our Lily

9yr old Lily Pade from The Harbour Tennis Academy / Westside Tennis Club has been invited to the
Australian Institute of Sport ( AIS ) in Canberra by Tennis Australia to attend
a 4 day National Talent Development Camp. She has been selected along with 15
other tennis athletes from throughout the country and is invitation only. 
Lily’s selection came about after attending a ‘Project Talent’ get together at
the State Tennis Centre in Homebush, Sydney and Tennis NSW talent scouts were
impressed with her tennis game. The AIS National Talent Development Camp takes
place from Tuesday 15th May to Friday 18th May
2012.  Lily is the first and only Coffs Coast tennis player to be invited
to the Australian Institute for Sport ( AIS ).

Her coach ( Dad – Allan ) has
been invited to attend the camp and will be working closely with Tennis
Australia staff and Talent Development coaches such as Scott Draper ( Former
World Ranked 42 ).
